Rotary’s Ribfest Returns!
June 11, 2024
Summer will be sizzling with the return of Rotary’s Ribfest on July 12, 13 & 14th at Open Hearth Park. This family fun event raises funds for the Rotary Clubs of CBRM and United Way Cape Breton.
“We are delighted to bring this event back, and want to thank our sponsors, our volunteers and of course, the community that has always provided such overwhelming support over the years,” says event Chair, Kevin Armstrong and member of the Sydney Sunrise Rotary Club.
Five ribbers will be returning including Crabby’s, Texas Rangers, Billy Bones, Camp 31 and Pistol Pete’s. There will also be other food vendors, including Amanda’s Island Bistro, Jolly Rancher, the Hot Dog Stand, Beaver Tails, Dragonfly Ice Candy Shop, Not Just Cakes, and Sweet Treatz to round out your menu options.
Again this year, there will be a beverage tent, a family fun area and of course, some of the Island’s finest musicians will be featured. This year’s lineup includes: Backhouse Brass, the Turnbull Brothers, Kintyre, Flo Sampson, Hearts of Kin, the Andrew Doyle Band, Band of Thieves, Keith Mullins & Kaden Primo and Drift Away Music.
Patrons are asked to give at the gate if they are able. Since its inception, Rotary’s Ribfest has raised more than $440,000 for local charities. The charities that have benefitted include Hospice Cape Breton, the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation, local food banks and mental health organizations. The funds have also supported scholarships for young people, the Ally Centre, mental health, literacy, Every Women’s Centre, hurricane relief and Meals on Wheels to name just a few.
“This event has grown to become one of Cape Breton’s favourite summer festivals, and and it’s helps us to build a better, more vital community,” says Mr. Armstrong. We invite everyone to help make this summer’s Rotary Ribfest the best ever!”
